Baptism

“To be baptised is to become a child of God, to join the great family of Christians”.

Baptism of small children (under the age of 4)

Stages of preparation for parents (please register at least 3 months before the date of baptism):

  • First meeting: A joint meeting with other parents, accompanied by a priest and a team of volunteers (either on a weekday evening from 7.30pm to 9pm, or on a Saturday from 10.30am to 12pm).
  • Second personalised meeting.
  • Celebration of baptism. Baptisms at Notre Dame de France are celebrated on the dates and at the times indicated below.

First meeting: choose a date for the joint meeting (one registration per family)

Wednesday 7 February, 7.30pm-9pm

Wednesday 28 February, 10.30am-12noon

Wednesday 17 April, 7.30-9pm

Administration fee: £30

Celebration of Baptism:

-> Choice 1. Baptism celebrated in another church, we will offer you a personalised meeting with a family from the baptism preparation team.

-> Choice 2. Baptism celebrated at Notre Dame de France, register at for the celebration at one of the dates below or contact us. (Several of your children will be baptised on the same day? Register each child separately!)  The priest celebrating the baptism will organise a meeting about 10 days before the celebration to prepare it..

Reconciliation

You can either:

  • Make an appointment with a priest
  • Come to the church directly and see a priest after weekday masses (Monday to Friday except Tuesday at 6pm).
  • Community celebrations of the sacrament of forgiveness before Christmas and Easter

Marriage

“By getting married in the church, the engaged couple testify that the love they have for each other is a gift from God. They commit themselves to be faithful and welcome with gratitude the fruits of their love.”

Registration for marriage preparation for 2023/2024 is now open! 

Content of the preparation

Marriage preparation at Notre Dame de France is conducted in French and includes:

3 group meetings:

  • 1st meeting (on Zoom, in the evening) on the theme of communication within the couple
  • 2nd meeting (in a group, on a Saturday) on the theme of the couple’s relationship
  • 3rd meeting (in a group, on a Saturday), on the theme of the sacrament

A minimum of 2 meetings with a Notre Dame de France priest to put together your administrative file.

Marriage preparation costs

  • Participation in the retreat costs: £90 per couple
  • Participation in the administrative costs of Notre Dame de France for putting together, following up and sending your marriage file: suggested donation of £150 to £250.
  • If you are getting married at Notre Dame de France: minimum offering of £200

(Please note that there are no preparation sessions in July and August).
